Our Practice

Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) affects 25 percent of the population in the U.S. and is associated with considerable morbidity.  Snoring is one of the most common aspects of SDB and has been described throughout history. Sleep apnea and other sleep-related breathing disorders constitute the greatest number of sleep disorders seen by sleep medicine, pulmonary, and general practitioners in the outpatient setting. A complete history and careful physical examination are paramount in assessing whether sleep apnea is present in patients with snoring symptoms. The history and examination results also guide the clinician in deciding whether a nocturnal polysomnogram is necessary in determining appropriate treatment.

There are many treatments available for SDB, which include continuous positive air pressure (CPAP), mandibular advancement device (MAD), nasal/oral surgery and in some cases weight loss.

Our sleep center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and is staffed with board certified sleep physicians and licensed technicians.

THE PRACTICE

Snoring, excessive daytime somnolence, waking up with a dry mouth and gasping for air at night, are symptoms of sleep disordered breathing (SDB).  Sleep apnea, is an obstruction of the airway wile you sleep that causes loss of oxygen and sleep fragmentation. If left untreated, sleep apnea may increase your risk of developing hypertension, diabetes and other health related issues.
